Dr Ji Won is a Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist working with young people, families and adults across a broad range of emotional, behavioural and developmental concerns. His approach is grounded in the belief that people are more than their diagnosis, and that meaningful progress comes from building a shared understanding of what is happening, rather than relying on labels alone.
He completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), holding an Advanced Certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Ji Won works across both public and private mental health settings, which has exposed him to a wide range of psychiatric presentations and care environments, including inpatient and community-based services. This dual role allows him to support people across the full spectrum of mental health needs — from mild and moderate difficulties through to severe and complex conditions, including psychosis, eating disorders and high-risk presentations. He also has experience supporting individuals with WorkCover and workplace-related mental health presentations, with an understanding of the clinical and systems factors involved.
Ji Won practises in a formulation-led, collaborative way, considering biological, psychological, social, cultural and developmental factors in each person’s care. He places strong emphasis on therapeutic relationships, particularly for individuals who require longer-term or more complex support. He works closely with families, schools, allied health professionals and community teams to ensure care is coordinated and consistent.
